In 2014, PennDOT completed the US 422 West Shore Bypass Reconstruction Study corridor study which provided a broader study of the US 422 corridor project area from the PA 12 exit to the Perkiomen Avenue exit. The US 422 Section 29M project is a subset of the original study being advanced to further study, design, environmental clearance, and construction.
